The Crushed Chip Data Dump

We aim to be our best versions of ourselves at THR. There may be small hiccups here and there. That means we aim to change, get better (most times), and listen to people. The story we ran a week or so ago, “On Crushed Chips For Touring,” received some insightful comments on Insta. And who are we to receive feedback and not respond? In other words, here is a response.

But first, more disclaimer. Take the data as a minor directive for your nutritional needs. As we noted in “…Chips for Touring,” if the food doesn’t taste good to you in a mountain context, then, well, you may fall into a calorie deficit. You may bonk. Worse, you may become surly and otherwise not that fun to be around. Considering this, it makes sense to focus on doing you. Eat the (crushed) chip that makes the most sense. If you like Sun Chips (the lowest-ranking in the chip family by calories per $1), then by all means, eat Sun Chips. Over here, we’ll probably opt for Lay’s Salt n’ Vinegar. Although it’s all crushed up, we’re unsure how this will land on the taste buds.

So here is our data dump. We’ve got, we think, most bases covered. If you’re looking for grams/chip (check), calories/gram (check), and how many calories of a certain chip type you’ll get for $1.00, we’ve got that, too.

Next time on THR Nutrition, we may jump into the candy aisle. We are open to suggestions.
