Dynafit DNA Boot Review

Dynafit DNA boot + Intuition Tour Mod Liners = Capable ski touring boots.

Dynafit DNA Boot Overview Consistent with some of my other outside the box ski gear ideas, my first day skiing the Dynafit DNA was a ~15” powder day, paired with 120mm Moonlight Cruiser skis. I had a blast. A bold pairing – 186cm Moonlight Cruiser (120mm underfoot) with the DNA boot. Perhaps a bold pairing…

It’s strange to see that Nina time when Uberlite mountaineering boots and trailrunning shoes are gaining built in full ankle height, overboot gaiters, skimo race boots still don’t have them.

Sorry about the weird typos. Stupid auto correct hinders more than helps often.

It’s strange to see that in a time when even super light mountaineering boots and trailrunning shoes are gaining built in, full ankle height, overboot gaiters, skimo race boots still don’t have them.

The Mezzalama version of this boot might be ideal. No cuff padding, higher gaiter, etc. thoughts?

It seems like there was a switch for both the Mezzalama and DNA to this lower gaiter, perhaps for zipper durability. This is what I am seeing on the Dynafit site anyways. Its hard to say without skiing the Mezzalama, how it would perform in that regard. The lower weight and stiffer but not overly harsh carbon cuff are what drew me to the DNA, as well as perhaps a desire to tinker with liners and padding. I have even thought about trying to sew up a higher gaiter for my DNA’s.

Based on the similarities with the DNA, the Mezzalama certainly seems like a good option that would be more plug and play for normal touring. I’m also full of hypocrisy, as I ski and enjoy the non-carbon Zero G Peak…
