I went looking for a pure powder ski, something with the surfy soulfulness of the extraordinary Igneous Raglefant that I had on loan and so had to return. Several skis piqued my interest, including the Line Pescado or Optic 114, the 4FRNT Renegade, Black Crows Nocta, Moment Wildcat tour, and the Armada Whitewalker 116. I…

Thx for the review, intriguing ski! What did you think of the 175cm length (how tall are you etc.?)?

I am 5’9 and 165lbs. I have been really happy with 175cm mounted pretty far forward. I do think going longer would be fine and maybe great. If you are on the fence and tend toward faster, and are looking for more stability and/or are taller than me the longer ski will work great. I am sure longer would also give more float. I haven’t had them out in really deep snow, but float didn’t seem like it was going to be a problem. For me, I wanted the ski to be easy to maneuver, fun, and playful and for me that extra length just becomes a bit cumbersome without – for me – adding much more fun. I don’t think I am loosing much on stability at speed, but I also don’t think you’d lose much in the way of maneuverability on the longer ski if longer is your thing.
I notice there is now also a whitewalker 108 that is supposed to be very similar to the 116 but obviously narrower. Could be a great all-round touring option.
I hope to report back with more on the 116 before long!-
Nice, thanks! I’m about exact same height/ weight so this is super helpful!
