Overview/Brand Overview A few years back, whispers of a new generation of Eric Hjorlefsen-designed boots started to permeate the ski world. Between the Vulcan and Hoji boot lines, which had/have some die-hard supporters and undoubtedly some cool innovation, it was exciting to hear something new was on the horizon.  Read the first look. Well, the fit is not for me, but it sure sounds like another great option in that “middle ground” between the 1 kg boots and the big boys like a Zero G Tour.

What are you skiing these with? I’m hoping they might work with 102-105 lighter skis for not super aggressive daily. How stiff are they compared to XTR?

I’m also not sure on the fit. Ridge were absolutely no good for instep. These are better but actually the remains plastic is kinda pinchy. Such a strange shell shape. Not at all anatomical.

I love my Ridges but oh how I wish they had that cam QR powerstrap. Hoping that’s a possible mod down the road. I can’t stand Velcro straps either.

If you have the Ridges or even the Radical boots the mod is pretty easy if you can get your hands on the parts. Both the old Hoji Frees and Tigard have the cam powerstrap that integrate with the Hoji Lock components. You can remove the velcro straps then replace with the cam strap. I was able to get my hands on the cam side for the old Hoji Frees (sold out seemingly everywhere but check with dynafit) that are easy replaced with that metal piece on outside of the boot where the velcro loops around. Bought the Dynafit Power Straps from SkiMo Co to use for the webbing that I cut to length and just screwed into the T-Nut on the medial side of the boot.
