The stats alone are stunning. We’re embedding the YouTube video posted this morning (11/7/25) of Andrzej Bargiel’s recent oxygenless ski descent of Mount Everest, from summit to base camp, which has nearly 1 million views. Damn. (This will soon be an outdated metric.)
You can read more on Bargiel and his descent here and here, but the video below should speak for itself. Thin air, exposed turns, and some fine footage. Bargiel began skiing down the mountain on September 22nd and spent the night at Camp II (6,400 meters). He then resumed his descent the following morning. Bargiel is credited with the first oxygenless summit-to-base-camp ski descent—he climbed and descended the traditional South Col route.
